About the Foundation
The Motsepe Foundation was established in 1999 by business leader Patrice Motsepe and his wife, Dr Precious Motsepe.
The principal aim and object of the Motsepe Foundation is to establish a fund and organisation to provide funding and support for charitable, educational, religious, healthcare and other philanthropic projects and initiatives in order to fight poverty and improve the social and economic conditions of the poor, unemployed and marginalised persons and communities. The Motsepe Foundation has accordingly embarked on a wide range of philanthropic projects.
The Motsepe Foundation envisions a nation in which everyone realises their potential and ultimately contributes to the building of South Africa and other African nations.
Over the past 10 years, the Motsepe Foundation has undertaken numerous projects, including structural projects and capacity-building in schools, and made donations to religious and faith-based organisations and traditional leaders for their communities, women empowerment initiatives, as well as programmes relating to education and healthcare for women and the youth.
The Motsepe Foundation supports and encourages freedom, democracy and good governance in South Africa. We also support meaningful and sustainable projects undertaken by local and international development organisations.
